About Us

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted a fixer house. I didn't want a new house that was all proper and straight and totally lacking character. I longed for a house with quirks, odd angles and tons of potential. I would pour over magazines and clip pictures of ideas for my 'someday' house. Over the years, my children and I lived in plenty of quirky houses, but none of them felt like THE house. I just knew that it was out there somewhere and when the time was right, it would come into my life. Little did I know that not only would it be the home of my heart, but that it would include a love that I had waited my whole life for.

In 2001  I was living alone with my son in Central Oregon after divorcing my husband of 12 years. Ken was living alone on the Oregon Coast after his marriage ended. One day I checked my messages and there was an e-mail from him. He had found me on Classmates.com and just wondered how I was. After several e-mails spent getting caught up on the last 22 years, I agreed to meet him in Sisters Oregon. I was a nervous wreck. I had been a slender cheerleader when we dated and now here I was a full figured mother of three and a grandmother of two.

I shouldn't have worried. When he got out of his truck, turned and looked at me and said "you are so beautiful!" it was all over. We were reunited in March of 2001 and by May I had moved to be with him here on the coast. I have never regretted taking a chance on this wonderful man.

In November of 2001, we found a 1928 farm house in dire need of some love and elbow grease. It was a mess! Trash everywhere and a ton of work to be done. But when I walked through the yard and saw all that was there under the weeds and blackberries, and admired the huge climbing rose that ran all along the garage and down the drive, I knew it was our dream home. After a bit of thought, we named the house Rosehaven in fitting tribute to the beautiful roses that grow here.

We were married at Rosehaven in May of 2002 in front of our family and friends. It was a very happy day and you could feel the spirit of love and joy that surrounded us. What a wonderful way to start our life here. I never thought that my life could be so happy and complete. I found a wonderful hand painted sign that now hangs in our home. It says "Never say Never". Words to live by if I've ever heard them.

Over the years we've worked very hard to create a home here. We have tons of before, during and after pictures of our projects and will be sharing them with you here soon...
