Feeling Blue...

The color, not the mood. But not just any blue. It has to be just that right shade. It's kind of a turquoisey (yes, I know that's not a real word), robins egg blue kind of color. I've become more than a little obsessed with it. I'm drawn to it like a raven to shiny objects. I see something in that color family and I forget what I'm doing and gravitate toward it. I love the way that it blends with the other colors that I've added to our home and gives it that little zing.

I think it all started with this little lamp that I brought home from my grandmother's. She used to have a set of them in the bedroom where we slept as children. I love the color and the sweet yellow birds.

Then I found these cups and saucers at a local junk store. The flowers are Bachelor Buttons. I think some people call them cornflowers. They grew wild in the lot next to grandma's before it was paved over to make a parking lot for a new shopping center. The little blue cup was just sitting there saucer-less so I brought it home too. Stacked up with a moss nest and two tiny perfect blue eggs make this even more "Wren".

And just look at these beautiful dishes. I found them in my friend Cindy Wobbe's shop, Mon Ami. Every December Cindy has a pre-Christmas event with some great prices. There they were just sitting on a shelf waiting for me to buy them. Makes me happy just to look at them...

This is my favorite tea set. Not only do I love the color, but cups are the perfect size to fit in the palm of my hand. No handles so I get that nice comforting warmth in my hand while the tea and the color warm my heart. And I love that sugar and creamer. If you follow me long enough, you'll find out that I'm also a little more than taken with hobnail milk glass. Love how it looks with my blue things.

Everywhere you look in our home, you'll find touches of my favorite color. I love the way it blends with the white and latte colors of our walls. Such a happy, smile inducing color...

What colors are you drawn to? Is there one that just makes your heart happy when you see it?

    1. LOL. When we were packing her things I finally threw out the other one. I felt bad about it, but you could see where it had broken a time or two (probably knocked over by a rowdy grandchild) and she had glued it back together. So funny the way she didn't throw things out!
