A Plethora of Projects

We bought our home in the fall of 2001. I had seen it in the paper for a few weeks and though the picture was a bad one, I somehow just knew it was suppose to be ours. I finally talked Ken into going out with a realtor to "just look" and the rest, they say, is history. Since the day we signed papers on this wonderful 1928 fixer, we've been knee deep in projects. Seems like it's a never ending cycle.

But for the last 4 years or so things have been put on hold. I had gotten so wrapped up in my retail store that our home had gotten put on the back burner. I finally decided that the only way to get back on track was to just START. Anywhere. So, trash bag in one hand and a hammer in the other, I headed upstairs. What a mess!

Since the closing of my business ( ok, for the entire time we've lived in the house) the upstairs has been a catchall. I have visions of this room being an amazing home studio.

And today, my hammer and I got started....

The room is small but was made even smaller with this wall dividing it in half. I hated going into the back part. Just the few boards that I tore down made a huge difference.

Talk about layer upon layer of paper, paint, plaster...

It's going to be a big job, but the good news is that it's more labor and time than cost. I can't wait to show you the steps to this renovation! I plan on putting in an hour a day before I go off to work. I think Mr. Smart was getting a bit nervous at all the banging going on and he finally poked his head up the stairs to see what I was up to. Not sure he's thrilled at my "Can DO!" attitude, but if I can keep up the momentum, I might have my studio space before summer sets in.
